Local elections are an important piece of the democratic process. When there is a voice missing from the decision-making process, citizens miss out. Sol Cabachuela is taking up the charge to bring inclusion and representation to her hometown. Sol ran as the first Latina candidate working to bridge the racial gap in Mundelein, Illinois. We partnered to help make an impact in the community.
Sol was uniquely positioned in this campaign to stand out amongst a sea of reds and blues. While most candidates relied on what is familiar, we drew from Sol’s heritage as a 1st Generation Mexican American. Sol’s vision for inclusion and representation made it a simple process to elevate her message through deep connecting and thoughtful design.
Sol’s commitment to her community brought out an outstanding amount of support for her campaign. We were able to showcase her involvement with a multitude of groups through photography, videography, and her message of inclusion for everyone to move people to the voting booth.
Sol is a winner, but not through traditional methods. Through highlighting her honest and genuine care for the community she grew up in, Sol is taking her seat as a Mundelein Village Trustee. The result of her hard work brings a historic day in Mundelein with the election of the first LatinX resident to a government position.
